Name: Lukas Rossi
Hometown: Toronto, Ontario (Canada)

OFFICIAL BIO

Jeff Buckley meets Freddie Mercury? Though you probably never thought you'd hear such a unique merging, this is exactly how mega evocative, singer songwriter Lukas Rossi has been described.

The distinction has served him well during his 15 years in music. Lukas has recorded, written, produced and played with his own popular band Cleavage, as well as co-written, sung and gigged with various Canadian bands, including Papa Roach, I Mother Earth and Big Wreck. He's also worked with producer and Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, and Jay and John Levine from the Philosopher Kings and Prozac -- just to name a few.

A notable, soulful standout all his own, Lukas also contributes vocal work for television and radio, singing on national ad campaigns and even an animated cartoon. His credentials, experience and finally, magnetism make for a performer as exceptional as he sounds.

No regrets for Rockstar Supernova frontman
After winning the job with the supergroup, playing Sunday in Everett, Lukas Rossi is having a great ride,
despite the bumpy road.

When Lukas Rossi won the summer reality TV show "Rockstar: Supernova," there were no guarantees of rock stardom.

The only guarantee was that Rossi, a 30-year-old Toronto native, would become the frontman of a supergroup that included Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee, one-time Guns 'N Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, and ex-Metallica bassist Jason Newsted.

As it turned out, even that wasn't guaranteed.

Newsted recorded on the band's self-titled album, released in November, but missed out on the tour after suffering a shoulder injury. One-time Black Crowes bassist Johnny Colt replaces Newsted for the tour.

The incident is a microcosm of the fate that has befallen Supernova, a band that even had to legally change its name after another band named Supernova sued them. They're now known, officially, as Rockstar Supernova on merchandise and on their CD, which came out to mostly bad reviews and didn't crack Billboard's Top 100.

As Lukas Rossi emerged into this world on December 21,1976 he was a bit annoyed for the trip had smudged his eye makeup and what was the deal with these bright lights? He wondered what was in store for him in this new place. He soon realized the smudged makeup look worked well for him and as for the bright lights he discovered shades! Big black ones baby! Maybe things would not be so bad after all.

Growing up in a rough Toronto neighborhood with less than an idealist family life made for a hard start for Lukas. But Luke found two friends: beer and music.
Music became the friend that helped keep him out of serious trouble.

For fifteen years Lukas has been on a roller coaster ride with his two friends. He has fronted his own band "Cleavage" as well as working with many other great artists.
He has been courted by major labels, but those romances never amounted to much. Lukas has also done jingles and theme songs for major companies and a popular animated cartoon. He has showcased his many talents as a singer/songwriter musician and mesmerizing stage performer.

But world domination has eluded this passionate performer who always brings something special to the stage. At a friend’s urging Lukas auditioned for Rock star. These bright lights he liked. As he said early on in the season "It's on baby, it's on" he has been the brightest light in the place and has brought "IT" to every performance delivering on amazing performance after another, and we have watched him handle the praise and pressures with a soft spoken grace.

So here we wait with Lukas to see where this part of his ride will take him. As Dave Navarro said that first night after Lukas performed "The reason shows like Rock star are so important is the fact we had not heard of Lukas Rossi". But now that we have we will never forget him. He has raised the bar for how we look at talent.
And we want to thank him for letting us share his ride.

The hair...the swagger...the smile...the VOICE! Lukas Rossi!
Today's answer to all of the punk/glam/rock bands of the 80's and 90's all rolled into one shining ball of attitude.

Lukas can be described as many things: a singer, an artist, an innovator, an oddball, an egotist, but the word that describes Lukas the best is a STAR.

Lukas hails from Ontario, Canada, and although he may seem like a novice in the rock world, he is indeed the very opposite. Lukas has been turning heads (and ears for that matter) for 15 years now.  He's worked with the likes of Rush guitarist Alex Lifeson, the philosopher Kings Jay and John Levine, and Papa Roach.  Lukas has also worked with producers Dave Tyson and Gavin Brown. Lukas is best known for his part in the Canadian band Cleavage, where he wrote, produced, and recorded.  Today, however, Lukas is most widely known for his part in Rockstar: SuperNova and anyone with ears knows that Lukas crushes his competition weekly.

Perhaps the most interesting thing about Lukas though is his style.  At first glance, all you see is make-up and hair.  However, when Lukas starts to sing, all perceptions are thrown out the window.  If music is the window to one's soul then Lukas Rossi has more soul than James Brown ever thought of. He has perfected the sexy rocker growl, while at the same time exhibiting the voice any choirboy would be proud to call his own. In a single performance, Lukas can show the hardcore vocals of a rock star, the haunting voice of a sensitive balladeer, and even a combination of the two. This ability makes Lukas stand out from your typical rock star prototype and brings Lukas into a class unto himself. Lukas isn’t afraid to glam it up with heavy make-up, rock it out with a body full of tattoos, or give his hair a life of it’s own. Lukas is a mixture of both old and new, a mixture that suits him well.

ukas Rossi’s stage presence is one that is not easily forgotten. He moves with the elegance and grace of a ballerina, the unabashed enthusiasm of a child dancing in front of a mirror, and the no holds barred egotistical swagger of legendary rockers such as Mick Jagger and David Bowie all at the same time. Lukas’s ability to combine so many facets of himself into his art, makes him a lone ranger in today’s music industry. Which, is precisely why Lukas will be rocking for years to come!

Both Laurie and Emily received a Black & White DVD for submitting their entries in the first official TLRC Contest

THE THINGS HE SAYS

"I'm not here to be on a TV show, I'm just here to be in the band. I'm really not into all this reality stuff."

"I'm not here to be a pop star or a TV star. I'm just here to rock."

Music has been my best friend my whole life,” he says, “because music doesn’t betray you.”

"It's great man, amazing." "It's kind of like summer camp for bad boys."

"I guess they saw that I am the real deal."

"I don't need to get tips or anything from someone else." "They do what they do and I do what I do."

Everyone's getting pretty agressive about the songs. You give me a song, I'll sing it.
That's why I'm out here and everbody else is in there I guess.
I've never been worried about song selection. I'm not here to be afraid, I'm here to win."

"ugh, i so couldn't be on that team"

"so how does the song go?"

"hey can we get some beer guys?"

"IF YOU COULD TOUCH A STAR......."

"just record it one more time it's been three times!"

"alright, alright, alright, okay, okay lets do one more"

"alright, alright, i'm ready, i'm ready"

"will they like you? will they love you? who cares?"

"you know inspite of alot of uh..you know head-butting last night, sometimes it takes that
to get to something to get to the harder of the truth of the song"

"i heard the tunes today and i got excited, you know, i got excited, In here (points to heart)"

Lukas - "This song is just dirty and sexy...... like me"

"Songs that you overthink tend to be...overthought"

"I have my clean, and I have my dirty, and then I have my *insert Billy Idol lip sneer followed by
ridiculously cute smile/smirk here* something else I'm gonna show later on"

"I thought it was a dog howling, I'm not even kidding"
His reaction of Dilana's falsetto!

"She didn't like me and I didn't like her. Tough bananas. Ciao!"

And on the dog theme (Week 2):

"You wanna roll with the big dogs, you gotta have a pretty mean bite."

Pointing to Motley Crue album "Dr Feelgood" during the Mansion Tour:

"This record right here, I remember doing my homework to this in highschool...right before I dropped out."

Goth, glam, dirty, rock shot. That's kind of the way I am and he portrayed it perfectly."
